Riley has become a little copy cat, it really cracks us up. Her latest trick is copying sounds and syllables in words... Here's a list of her new stuff, we are truly loving watching her grow!
1) I woke up yesterday morning to feel a warm little body against me (We have co-slept with Riley since she was born, at least part time, and lately due to teething pain we've been cuddling all night long), and I must have been "sleep breathing" (you know kinda deep) and I hear this whispery "uuuuuuh, aaaaaah" and Riley's breath on my face...She was copying my sighy sleep breathing!!! I then felt her warm lips on my cheek and "mama" and a giggle when I opened my eeys. I love waking up in the morning!
2) She now sighs when one of us sighs, it is truly hilarious.
3) In the past few days she has really started to copy other sounds... She was "helping" her nana crochet the other night (she'd take the needle and swirl it around in the yarn) and my Mom would say, "Riley, crochet!" and Riley would go "a-shey! Shey shey sshhhh. A-shey!" she amazes us. She also copies the "s", "t" and "th" sounds "on cue"...Almost always in a whispery quiet voice, we love that little voice!
4) Other things we never thought a 1 year old would be doing are clicking. Riley knows that you use keys in doors. And if she gets a hold of my keys she takes them over to the front door and tries to reach the door knob.
5) She also understands where DVD's go, she picked up one of her DVD's and tried to put it in the DVD player, no prompting...We thought it was a fluke but she does it any time she gets a hold of a DVD!
6) Every night Daddy brushes her hair before they read their bedtime books, Riley has started taking the hair brush and brushing her hair herself. Some times the brush is backwards and it's just plastic hitting her head, but it's still extremely adorable!
7) Ryan got a Nerf gun for Christmas (yes he's 12 tehee) and a new game he and Riley play is Daddy shoots the darts and Riley runs and gets them...She would do it almost forever, it is quite funny.
8) When she is tired she now starts rubbing her eyes (her sleepy sign) she'll look at us and bring her blanket and we'll ask "Do you wanna go get ready for bed and go Nigh-Nigh??" and she runs over to the bottom of the stairs (giggling the whole time in that sleepy happy laugh) saying "nigh nigh, nigh nigh!" and waits for us to open the gate so she can go up to bed!
9) Today in nursery at church she was starting to get upset and she kept tapping her lips with her fist...The staff at first thought nothing of it but she kept doing it, they eventually caught on she was trying to tell them some thing and she started to cry... They came and got me and that sign is for "eat/Nurse" but mostly for "I want my Mommy!" when I"m not around... It's so great to see that she can communicate her needs a bit.
Ryan's bestfriend from Texas is here visiting this weekend...He has taken LOTS of picture of Riley Joy, and we have really been enjoying this visit. :0)
