Happy 2nd Birthday Riley Joy!

Hard to believe but Riley Joy turned two years old today. It has been an incredible, life changing, world shaking two years...She is incredible, we are so thankful for her and learning so much from and through her every single day.

It was an interesting day...Ri came down with another cold earlier in the week and today it was BAD, she had a slight fever and her poor little nose was runnign like a faucet. She also had a BIG change, she started wearing big girl underwear! That's right, we started potty training. Honestly, it's not because she's turning two- its' because Ryan has a 4 day weekend and we decided to dive in and give this "Three Day Potty Training" thing a shot... Today 5 accidents but she woke up from her nap dry, and she LOVED being out of her diaper. We're not going to push it, she's ONLY two...But she's been acting ready since Amity was born- I just couldn't stand the thought of tackling it with a young baby in the house! So we're trying it now, if it clicks- GREAT- if not we'll try later. Pretty much the 3-day thing is: stick them in underwear, remind them to tell you if they have to go- catch the accident in process and rush them to the potty...Supposedly by day 3 it "clicks" and they start telling you that they have to go. We did put a diaper on at one point today because she was feeling so sick and asked for it (a security thing I guess), once she wore it a while she asked for it to be off and it was dry- we went back to trying the potty and she seems to prefer it that way. We'll see how the next few days go.

Riley LOVED her flower cake- nothing very kiddish this year- we've all been hit with this bug and didn't have energy to make a nice cake. She kept singing "Happy Birthday flower, happy birthday tooo you." Yes her face is a MESS from the cold- I keep putting baby kisses balm on it but it's not helping at all. Hopefully when her nose slows down what I put on there will STAY there and do its work.
