Christmas this year snuck up on me! I am still trying to get it in my head that it's not summer any more. Where did Autumn go? What is that white stuff on the ground? A CHRISTMAS tree? Already!? This year has flown by, I feel like I missed it. Being pregnant put me in an alternate reality, the winter was enduring morning sickness, the spring was busy, and the summer was focused on preparing for Amity's arrival, and enduring the misery untill she did. The Autumn was that strange newborn zone where you're a little foggy and twitterpated. Even if you're getting enough sleep- nothing else seems to matter- there is a new baby in the house!
But with a new baby, comes a lot of extra work- and on top of that we've been trying to make some adjustments in our household cleaning things out and reorganizing. The Autumn has been a blur of WORK. Every weekend since October we've had some big project to complete. Saturday afternoon arrived, the day of The Great Christmas Tree Hunt, we were all sitting around the living room looking at the snow swirling around out side and we realized that we had nothing left. So we made a decision, a first in Golden/Burgett History (and a first in 30 years in Golden History) we were going to put up the artificial tree. A friend gave Ryan and I a beautiful 7 foot artificial tree 2 years ago...We set it up in the family room/playroom last year...But this year it took it's place in the living room.
It's not quite the same, the smell of fresh cut pine does not fill you the moment you enter. But it's beautiful and our Christmas tree ornaments look lovely on it.
Here are some pictures from Tree Day '09
This year Riley is big enough to play with the Nativity scene Nana got her the Christmas before she was born (2007)- she LOVED it!
HER nativity scene, she can play with this on and leave Mommy's Willow Tree one alone! ;0)
Setting up the tree! Note the paper chain Riley and I made together, she had so much fun! Amity sat at the table too and chewed on pieces of paper Riley shared with her.
Riley: Amity, paper! Eat, lick- yummy! Like it.
Mommy: ugh.
Amity: drool and coooo.
Amity: drool and coooo.
Amity fell asleep on Mommy's back while she was "helping" me get the decorations figured out. We took a picture to show her that she was there- then we put her down for her nap.
Riley now insists on eating apples like a grown up...WHOLE. She won't eat those silly babyish apple slices. Less work for me!
Amity woke up from her nap.
